Styx is an American rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1972. The band consists of members Tommy Shaw (vocals, guitar), James "J.Y." Young (vocals, guitar), Lawrence Gowan (vocals, keyboards), Todd Sucherman (drums), Ricky Phillips (bass), and Chuck Panozzo (bass, occasional vocals).

Styx rose to fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s with their progressive rock sound and hits such as "Come Sail Away," "Renegade," and "Babe". The band's music often features complex arrangements, soaring vocal harmonies, and a blend of rock, pop, and classical influences.
